In the midst of a 10-game losing streak, the Toronto Tempo are focusing on small victories. Forward Laura Juskaite highlighted the team’s effort to keep their opponents below 100 points as a significant improvement. Despite facing lineup changes and missing key players like Julie Allemand and Maria Conde, the Tempo remain resilient and aim to give their best in every game.
The expansion season for the Tempo has been challenging, with 14 losses in their last 15 games, leaving them with a 10-23 record and slim playoff chances. The team is gearing up to face the high-scoring Indiana Fever next, emphasizing the need to address their defensive shortcomings.
With seven games left before the FIBA World Cup break, the Tempo have a brief respite at home to regroup and strategize. The addition of forward Aneesah Morrow has brought stability to the team, complementing the talented backcourt duo of Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes, along with rookie Kiki Rice.
As the postseason becomes increasingly unlikely, some fans and management may turn their focus to securing better draft lottery odds. However, the players and coaches remain committed to finishing the season strong and building for the future.
Rookie Kiki Rice, a key player for the Tempo, emphasized the team’s long-term vision and the importance of continuous improvement. Despite facing challenges such as injuries and lineup changes, the Tempo are determined to establish a winning culture and strive for better performances.
The upcoming schedule poses further challenges for the Tempo, with a prolonged stretch away from home. Despite the difficulties, the team remains optimistic and determined to turn the tide in their favor, with a strong belief in their ability to secure victories.
