“Ms. Rachel Matches Macklemore’s $1M Donation to Palestine Fund”

Must Read

Ms. Rachel has pledged to donate $1 million US to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF), matching the contribution promised by rapper Macklemore following his removal from Ed Sheeran’s U.S. tour due to his pro-Palestinian statements on stage. The American YouTube personality and educator, known as Rachel Accurso, announced her commitment in an Instagram post, urging other affluent white celebrities to join and condemn the atrocities in Gaza.

Expressing concern for the thousands of Palestinian children who have lost their lives, Ms. Rachel emphasized the importance of leveraging privilege and platforms to safeguard children and uphold human rights. With a substantial following on her YouTube channel, she was appointed as a global ambassador for PCRF last year, advocating for the well-being and rights of children in Gaza.

Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, responded positively to Ms. Rachel’s initiative, showing support for her cause. The renowned rapper disclosed on Instagram that he would be donating his entire $1-million earnings from Sheeran’s tour to six organizations aiding Palestinians. His removal from the tour after expressing solidarity with Palestinians led to backlash but also sparked discussions on peace and equality for all.

In response to criticisms and venue threats, Macklemore revealed that his expulsion from the tour was orchestrated by American billionaire Robert Kraft, a staunch supporter of Israel. Kraft, in a statement to CBC News, affirmed his opposition to hate speech and selective information, leading to Macklemore’s exclusion from performing at Gillette Stadium.

Amid the escalating controversy, Ed Sheeran faced criticism for his handling of the situation and his perceived reluctance to take a public stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. Despite expressing concern for the suffering on both sides, Sheeran defended his decision to remain apolitical. Following subsequent developments, all supporting acts withdrew from the tour, leaving Sheeran without openers for upcoming shows.

In a gesture of solidarity, Kraft and Sheeran each pledged $2 million US towards humanitarian aid in Gaza in response to Macklemore’s challenge. Their joint commitment aims to address the ongoing crisis and foster collaboration among venue owners to support the affected region.
