Tens of thousands of music enthusiasts gathered at Great Park in Irvine, California, during the weekend to enjoy live performances by their favorite artists. The event, known as Daisy Chain Fields, aimed to raise funds for women’s health, reproductive rights, and the fight against gender-based violence.
Daisy Chain Fields, a charity festival organized by pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, drew inspiration from the iconic Lilith Fair of the 1990s, featuring an all-female lineup. The festival showcased a mix of established and emerging stars, including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Bikini Kill, and Garbage.
Before the festival kicked off, Rodrigo revealed that they had raised $10 million for the event’s ten nonprofit partners. This amount was generously matched by Melinda French Gates, doubling the total funds raised to $20 million. The proceeds were directed to organizations such as Planned Parenthood, the National Institute for Reproductive Health, and the Black Mamas Matter Alliance.
Rodrigo had announced the festival back in June, emphasizing that all performers would participate free of charge, with net proceeds benefiting charities supporting women and girls. The event featured memorable collaborations, including Rodrigo performing “Landslide” with Stevie Nicks and surprise appearances by artists like Alanis Morissette and Sarah McLachlan.
The festival’s name, “Daisy Chain,” symbolized the unity and strength achieved when individual elements come together. Daisy Chain Fields featured a diverse lineup of 14 artists, including Mitski, Santigold, The Breeders, and Eli, offering a mix of musical performances that captivated the audience.
