David Schumacher, the nephew of legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, has made public his engagement to Vivien Keszthelyi. The couple, who met through a mutual acquaintance and have been in a relationship for several years, shared the news on social media recently.
David, a participant in the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for the HRT Ford Performance team, proposed to Vivien, a Hungarian driver, during a romantic getaway to the Maldives. Capturing the moment on Instagram, the 24-year-old wrote, “She said yes. The ocean bore witness to our love, and the sunset sealed our commitment. 05.11.2025.” Vivien expressed her gratitude for the well-wishes received, stating, “Thank you all for the lovely messages and support.”
Among the many admirers of the engagement announcement was David’s father, Ralf, a former Formula 1 race winner. Notably, Michael Schumacher, David’s older brother, suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013, which has required him to receive constant medical care at home since then.
Michael, a seven-time world champion, spent 250 days in a medically induced coma before returning home. According to Neurosurgeon Dr Jussi Posti, who closely monitors Schumacher’s condition, Michael has likely remained in a similar state for the past decade.
In a Netflix documentary released in 2021, Corinna, Michael’s wife, provided insights into his situation. She reflected on the unfortunate accident that changed their lives and expressed how much she and their family miss Michael on a daily basis.
Mick Schumacher, Michael’s son, also shared his sentiments in the documentary, acknowledging the void left by the accident and expressing a wish for more shared moments with his father in the world of motorsport. The emotional recollections painted a poignant picture of the enduring impact of the accident on the Schumacher family.
