“Gaza Conflict: Hamas Reviews US Peace Plan Amid Escalating Violence”

Must Read

Hamas leaders are currently reviewing a 21 US peace proposal while violence continues to escalate in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of at least 46 Palestinians. Tragic incidents include a mother and her six children killed in a missile strike in Deir al-Balah and three individuals in an Israeli attack on a camp in al-Mawsi.

The conflict intensified with widespread attacks across the Strip following the delivery of the peace plan to Hamas by the US President. The proposal, if accepted, could potentially bring the region closest to peace since the outbreak of conflict in 2023.

The plan, supported by Israel, outlines conditions for Gazans to stay in the Strip, grants amnesty to Hamas fighters, calls for an end to hostilities, and the immediate release of hostages. The proposal also includes provisions for the release of prisoners and deceased Palestinians once the remaining hostages, some of whom are believed to be alive, are returned.

However, Hamas would need to disarm and relinquish control of the Strip, with a new police force introduced and de-radicalization programs implemented. The arrangement would be overseen by a peace board led by Trump and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair before the establishment of a Palestinian authority.

International support for the proposal is growing, with countries like France, Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Pakistan offering approval. While some extremists on both sides oppose the plan, global leaders are optimistic about the potential for peace, urging all parties to work towards a comprehensive ceasefire and sustainable resolution in Gaza.
