“Inquiry Launched After Schoolgirl Approached by Van Driver”

Must Read

An inquiry has been initiated following an incident where a schoolgirl was approached by an individual who allegedly instructed her to enter his van. The teenager, who had recently departed Bartley Green school upon dismissal, encountered a man in a van near The Cock pub in Bartley Green, Birmingham on Wednesday.

The girl was reportedly left feeling distressed by the encounter, and law enforcement authorities are currently providing her with assistance. The school has informed parents about the incident through messages.

A communication from Adams Hill school, circulated online and viewed on BirminghamLive, stated: “We have been informed of an incident that occurred last night outside The Cock pub. A student was approached by a driver of a white van and asked to enter the vehicle. The student is shaken but unharmed. The incident has been reported to the police. We will be discussing personal safety with students while they are in the community.”

The Mirror has contacted the school for feedback. West Midlands Police has also been reached out to determine any potential connection to a recent incident in a nearby locality over the weekend.

Fortunately, a nine-year-old boy was able to evade a van driver’s attempt to abduct him from Church View. The police had previously confirmed to Birmingham Live that the Church View abduction attempt was unrelated to another incident involving a schoolgirl near Erdington’s Faulkners Farm Drive ten days earlier.

Regarding the Wednesday incident, a police spokesperson mentioned: “We are conducting an investigation after a teenage girl reported an encounter with a man in a van on Jiggins Lane, Bartley Green, around 3.30 pm on Wednesday, September 24. Authorities have spoken to her and are providing support as inquiries progress. Local officers will conduct additional patrols to offer reassurance. CCTV and doorbell footage are being obtained and reviewed.”

Individuals who have not yet provided information are encouraged to contact the authorities by calling 101 or sending a message through the official website, quoting log 3465 of September 24.
