“Money-Saving Challenges for 2026: Start Small, Save Big!”

Must Read

If you’ve set a goal to save money in the new year, consider taking on one of these money-saving challenges for 2026.

These challenges range from starting with just 1p on the first day to potentially saving nearly £7,000 by the end of the year for the more ambitious savers.

The method of saving is up to you – whether you opt for a digital savings account or the traditional approach of using a jar to collect coins and cash.

One option is the £1 saving challenge, where you save £1 every day, resulting in £365 saved by the end of the year. Alternatively, saving 50p a day would accumulate to £182.50 annually.

Another challenge involves increasing the saved amount by 1p each day, beginning with 1p on January 1 and reaching £3.65 on December 31, totaling £667.95 saved by the end of the year or £164.71 by the end of June.

For a weekly challenge, starting with £1 on Monday and adding £1 each day until Friday, then skipping the weekends, you could save £780 over the year or £390 if done every other week.

A more gradual challenge involves saving an additional £1 each week, starting with £1 in the first week of January and reaching £52 in the final week of December, resulting in £1,378 saved by year-end, or £351 if done every other week.

A tougher version includes weekends, saving £1 on Monday and increasing the amount by £1 each day, with an additional £6 on Saturday and £7 on Sunday, totaling £1,456 saved by the end of the year or £728 if completed halfway.

The most challenging of all the challenges involves increasing the saved amount by £5 per week, potentially saving £6,890 by the end of the year or £1,755 if halfway through.
