Police have unveiled surveillance footage of a man they wish to interrogate following an assault on a woman by an intruder who tried to enter her residence in central London. Authorities are eager to locate the man who engaged with the victim in the hallway of her building on New Cavendish Street, Westminster, just before midnight. Subsequently, he pursued her to her apartment, where he muzzled her and attempted to gain entry.
The woman’s partner was present and promptly drove him away. Law enforcement has now made public the CCTV images of the individual they seek to speak with, urging the public’s assistance in identifying him. The incident occurred on July 30, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Described by officials as a white male, approximately 5ft 9in tall with a receding hairline, the suspect was attired in a grey t-shirt and blue jeans, later seen wearing a brown hoodie. The victim noted his non-British accent, possibly Scandinavian, Australian, or from New Zealand, according to the authorities.
Authorities are appealing for anyone who can recognize the suspect or possesses information to contact them at 101, referencing case number 8868/JUL. Alternatively, individuals can contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111.
Detective Constable Chunjie Zang, from the Met’s Central West Borough Command Unit, expressed concern over the distress caused to the victim and her family by the alarming incident. He emphasized the need to ensure safety in one’s own residence and urged for community cooperation in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
