Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026, where a potential problem lies with the attachment of the second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor to the vehicle’s body structure.
This issue could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, raising the risk of injury to occupants. While there has been one reported injury associated with this problem, there have been no fatalities linked to it. The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America.
Stellantis will be contacting affected vehicle owners to arrange for inspections at dealerships. During these inspections, dealers will assess the attachment of the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body structure.
