“Vodafone Unveils 5G Wi-Fi Router for High-Speed Connectivity”

Must Read

Vodafone introduces a novel method for internet connectivity. Instead of relying on traditional copper or fiber connections, the company’s latest Wi-Fi router utilizes a 5G mobile signal to download files and stream movies.

This innovative approach is particularly beneficial for households without access to high-speed full fiber internet or for individuals seeking flexibility. The portable nature of the device allows for easy relocation, catering to renters and students who frequently change residences.

The installation process is streamlined as the router operates on Vodafone’s network, eliminating the need for professional assistance. Users can simply plug the device into a power source, switch it on, and promptly access the internet.

It is important to note that this new system offers speeds of up to 150Mbps, suitable for activities like streaming Netflix, sending emails, and working from home. However, it falls short of the high speeds provided by full fiber connections, which can exceed 900Mbps.

For reference, downloading a full HD movie using this 5G router takes approximately 8 minutes, in contrast to just 40 seconds with a fiber gigabit connection. To assist customers in making informed decisions, Vodafone has launched an integrated availability checker on its website to determine the best connection type based on postcode.

Vodafone previously offered internet access via 5G through its GigaCube device, which has now been replaced by the new router. Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of providing fast and reliable broadband options to homes currently underserved by conventional services.

Additionally, Three, now part of Vodafone, also offers a similar service. Vodafone’s plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is priced at £11 for the initial nine months. This move is aimed at expanding access to high-speed internet and offering customers greater choices in connectivity options.
