Must Read

The conclusion of the Labour conference was celebrated last night at The Mirror’s renowned party, where Cabinet ministers, MPs, political staff, and journalists relaxed after a hectic period in Liverpool.

The evening commenced with Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones delivering a moving performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” alongside Hillsborough campaigners. Margaret Aspinall, whose son James was a victim of the 1989 tragedy, passionately advocated for the swift passing of a new law to prevent cover-ups.

Later on, karaoke entertainment began, with Cabinet members Wes Streeting and Lisa Nandy energetically singing Oasis’ “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Streeting also took the stage to perform “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”

The event featured various notable moments, including Health Secretary Wes Streeting, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, and former shadow minister Jonathan Ashworth donning a dazzling sequined blazer for a lively rendition of Oasis’ hit song.

Housing Secretary Steve Reed, sporting a ‘Build, Baby, Build’ cap reminiscent of Trump, also joined in with a rendition of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline.” Chancellor Rachel Reeves and Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden were spotted enjoying themselves at The Mirror’s party.

The evening was further enriched by The Mirror’s editor Caroline Waterston’s warm welcome to guests, marking the annual tradition of The Mirror party held after the Prime Minister’s keynote speech, in collaboration with InHouse Communications and drinks provided by Diageo.

Noteworthy guests like The Mirror’s iconic Mirror chicken, Health Secretary Wes Streeting, and journalist Sophie Huskisson participated in the festivities, with performances ranging from Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” to Green Day’s “American Idiot.”

The party was also attended by prominent figures like the FT’s Jim Pickard and Sky News’ Beth Rigby, who enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Jonathan Ashworth, a former shadow minister, embraced the energetic ambiance, donning a striking gold sequined blazer during his stage performance.
