A tragic car crash involving five teenagers has resulted in the death of a 17-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Monday night in a rural area of Lancashire. The blue Vauxhall Corsa was the only vehicle involved in the collision on Jackson Heights Road, a route connecting Darwen and Haslingden through Pickup Bank, a small village often used as a shortcut by drivers.
Authorities swiftly responded to the emergency at 8:39 pm on Monday, with police, paramedics, and firefighters arriving at the scene. The male driver was pronounced dead at the site, while the four teenage passengers sustained minor injuries. According to reports, the car veered off the road and landed in an embankment, with the driver found unresponsive.
Blackburn with Darwen Police confirmed the tragic incident and expressed condolences to the driver’s family. They indicated that investigations into the crash were ongoing and urged any witnesses or individuals with dash cam footage from the area to come forward.
A local resident from Hoddlesden, who frequently passes through Pickup Bank, described witnessing the emergency lights at the scene, likening it to a spectacle. She noted that the recent crash adds to a series of accidents in the locality, expressing fear over the recurring incidents.
