EE has unveiled an upgraded version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing number of scams targeting mobile users. The new update, priced at £2 per month for EE pay-monthly customers, aims to enhance protection against cyber threats.

Since its initial launch in 2024, EE’s Scam Guard has already thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest upgrade, EE anticipates doubling the prevention of scams over the next year. The core of the enhanced Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection, which consists of three digital safety features powered by Norton’s Genie AI engine.

The new features include Safe Email, offering proactive scam protection for email inboxes round the clock. Safe SMS utilizes advanced AI to detect sophisticated scams in text messages, providing real-time protection to users. Additionally, Safe Web uses AI to safeguard customers while browsing or shopping online by blocking malicious websites.

Furthermore, the upgraded Scam Guard introduces Scam Assistant, enabling users to upload screenshots of suspicious content for instant feedback. It also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring to detect any suspicious activities across a user’s online presence.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving fraud threats and providing top-notch cybersecurity measures to customers. He highlighted EE’s commitment to protecting customers through innovative solutions like the enhanced Scam Guard service.

By investing in network-level controls, industry partnerships, and a dedicated security team, EE aims to offer customers unparalleled cyber protection against scams in an ever-evolving digital landscape.
