Donald and Melania Trump were seen in what appeared to be a disagreement as the President gestured with his finger towards his wife while she shook her head. The exchange took place on Marine One, the US President’s helicopter, following a tense day at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Through the helicopter’s window, the President, 79, was observed pointing at the First Lady, 55, as they conversed while seated across from each other.
After disembarking from the helicopter, the couple walked hand-in-hand across the South Lawn into The White House, displaying a different demeanor from the scene on Marine One. During his UN address, the President alleged that he and Melania had been subjected to “triple sabotage” after an incident involving a malfunctioning escalator at the UN building.
Addressing the escalator incident, Donald criticized the UN, claiming it posed a potential danger to them. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested that UN staff had joked about switching off the escalator as a prank when the President and First Lady were on it. Trump denounced the incident as “sabotage” and called for those responsible to be arrested.
The couple, married since 2005 and parents to Barron Trump, have faced public scrutiny over Melania’s apparent displeasure towards her husband and her role in US politics. Melania has been seen swatting away her husband’s attempts to hold her hand and has been accused of wearing large-brimmed hats to deter his affections.
In a separate incident, Donald Trump offered marriage advice to Emmanuel Macron after a video emerged showing the French President’s wife seemingly slapping him during a disagreement. Trump, speaking about the incident on Fox News, expressed his support for the couple, stating that they are “two really good people” and that he knows Macron well.
