“Iconic ‘Dynasty’ Actress Betty Harford Dies at 98”

Betty Harford, an iconic figure from the television series Dynasty, has passed away. The actress died peacefully earlier this month surrounded by her family, as confirmed by her close friend.

Wendy Mitchell, a friend of Betty, shared the news on Facebook, stating that Betty Harford Naszody passed away at the age of 98 on November 2, 2025. Wendy mentioned that Betty had been living in Carpinteria and had been recovering from the flu before her passing.

Betty, who was 98 years old at the time of her death, breathed her last in Santa Barbara, California. She was renowned for her portrayal of cook Hilda Gunnerson in the ABC soap opera Dynasty and made a comeback in Dynasty: The Reunion in 1991.

Apart from her role in Dynasty, Betty was also recognized for her performance as Mrs. Nottingham, the secretary of Professor Charles Kingsfield, in the CBS legal drama The Paper Chase during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

With a career spanning over four decades, Betty appeared in several popular shows including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Dr. Kildare, The Twilight Zone, and The Big Valley. She also graced the big screen in movies like The Wild and the Innocent, Adventures in Paradise, and The China Syndrome, which received multiple Oscar nominations.

In the 1965 drama Inside Daisy Cooper, Betty portrayed the older sister of Natalie Wood’s character. She kickstarted her acting career in her twenties, landing roles on radio shows like Gunsmoke and Crime Classics. Her final role was voicing Gumba in the 1994 video Fun with Gumby.

Betty was married to sculptor Oliver Andrews, with whom she had a son named Chris. After their split in the 1970s, she tied the knot with Hungarian actor Alex de Naszody, who passed away in 1996 at the age of 81. She is survived by her son, Chris, and her grandchildren.

Fans have expressed their condolences on social media, remembering Betty’s memorable performances. Her legacy lives on through her remarkable contributions to the entertainment industry.
