“Man Left Stranded in Turkey After Allergic Reaction on UK Flight”

Must Read

A man alleges he was left in Turkey following an allergic reaction during his flight from the UK. Dan Bowes, 32, embarked on a Jet2 flight from Newcastle to Dalaman Airport on July 9 with his friend Clair. Soon into the flight, he experienced throat swelling, which he attributed to a possible summer illness.

Despite receiving prompt assistance from the flight crew and medical personnel upon landing, Dan faced challenges later in his trip. A Jet2 representative at his hotel informed him he needed a fit-to-fly certificate and a completed medical information form to return home, costing him £50 for a doctor’s visit and £500 for the certificate.

After resolving the documentation issue, Dan was unexpectedly informed on July 17 that he couldn’t fly that day due to an incomplete medical form. Despite quickly rectifying the situation, he faced further delays at the airport and was eventually rejected for boarding just minutes before departure.

After a distressing ordeal, including financial struggles and emotional stress, Dan managed to secure a flight home with the help of a fellow traveler. Dissatisfied with Jet2’s handling of the situation, he lodged a complaint and expressed a desire for an explanation and apology from the airline.

Jet2 responded, stating that they adhered to standard procedures by requiring the completion of a Medical Information Form for Dan’s return journey. They emphasized that customer health and safety are their top priorities. Ultimately, after receiving the necessary documentation, Dan was able to fly home the next day.
