Asda has introduced a new pricing pledge, offering lower prices on thousands of everyday items compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card prices.
More than 2,300 everyday products at Asda are now priced lower than its competitors, encompassing fresh meat, fresh produce, chilled items, core grocery products, and bakery goods.
Additionally, Asda is running a promotion throughout January where customers will receive 10% back in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all in-store fresh produce purchases.
Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the company’s commitment to helping families save money following the holiday season, offering consistent and transparent pricing without the requirement of a loyalty card.
Following a challenging Christmas period, Asda saw a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks leading up to December 28, based on data from Worldpanel analysts.
Despite a 4.2% decrease in sales during this period, Asda continued to face sales challenges, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decline, while competitors Tesco and Sainsbury’s gained more customers, further solidifying their market positions.
Tesco recently announced a new initiative to maintain low prices on 3,000 branded products consistently as part of its Everyday Low Prices campaign.
