Olympic gold medalist Jessica Ennis-Hill has pledged her support to Kevin Sinfield’s charity initiative to raise funds for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) by participating in the Sheffield leg of his ‘7 in 7 Together’ challenge. Sinfield, a former rugby star, aims to complete an ultra marathon every day for a week as part of his ongoing efforts to support MND charities. His past endeavors have already amassed more than £10 million, contributing to the establishment of a groundbreaking center in Leeds, the first of its kind in the UK.
Sinfield’s motivation stems from his personal connection to MND through his friend and former teammate, Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with the disease. Ennis-Hill, a renowned athlete who clinched the heptathlon gold at the 2012 Olympics and holds three world championship titles, is set to add her star power to raise awareness for the cause.
Following his Sheffield run, Sinfield will continue his challenge in Cumbria, Scotland, and ultimately finish in Leeds. Meanwhile, another sports figure, Lewis Moody, a World Cup winner for England, recently disclosed his MND diagnosis, prompting further efforts to raise funds, including a planned charity dinner and a potential bike ride event in 2026.
