A men’s fashion brand based in the UK has stopped operating after entering administration. Great Clothing Ltd, known as Big Boys, specialized in offering plus-size clothing for men ranging from 2XL to 10XL. The company, situated in Leeds, employed around 12 individuals in 2025.
Chris Brooksbank from CB Business Recovery Ltd has been named the administrator for the company. A message on the Big Boys website stated that despite efforts to overcome financial challenges, the decision to cease trading was unavoidable.
The administrator will take charge of managing the company’s operations, business, and assets without personal liability. In related news, River Island has closed 27 stores as part of a restructuring plan, with certain locations like Brighton, Edinburgh Princes Street, Great Yarmouth, and Stockton-on-Tees already shut down in late 2025.
The closures in Norwich, Norfolk, and Workington, Cumbria, are pending confirmation. Additionally, River Island is reducing rents at 71 other stores as part of the restructuring initiative. Poundland is also closing 12 stores in January following approval from the High Court, as part of its restructuring strategy.
Previously, Poundland had sold 57 stores by September and expects to reduce its total branches from 800 to an estimated 650 to 700 stores. The discount retailer is implementing a simplified pricing structure at its UK stores, with most grocery items priced at £1, and a smaller percentage at £2 and £3. Moreover, Poundland has updated its website to focus on product browsing only, with no online purchasing option available.
