Donald Glover, known by his stage name Childish Gambino, shared that he had to end his tour prematurely last year due to experiencing a stroke while performing. The 42-year-old rapper disclosed the health scare during his appearance at the Camp Flog Gnaw Festival at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. He mentioned feeling unwell during a show in New Orleans in September and continued performing despite the discomfort.
Following the concert, he sought medical attention in Houston, where doctors diagnosed him with a stroke. Addressing his fans during a recent performance in LA, he humorously mentioned his initial reaction to the diagnosis. Glover also revealed additional health issues, including a foot injury and a heart condition that required two surgeries.
Expressing gratitude to his fans, he acknowledged feeling a sense of disappointment for canceling shows and expressed a desire to visit Ireland. The cancellation of the tour was explained in a social media statement where he outlined the need for surgery and time to recover. The tour, named the New World Tour, was his first since 2019 and marked the conclusion of his Childish Gambino persona. Glover, also a writer and actor known for his role in the FX series Atlanta, concluded the show with its season four finale in November 2022.
