An elderly couple, deeply in love, made a poignant decision to spend their final moments together by holding hands before tragically plunging to their deaths. David and Susan Jeffcock, aged 80 and 74 respectively, chose to end their lives by leaping off a cliff at Whitby Abbey after David received a devastating bone cancer diagnosis.
Prior to their fateful decision, the couple, who had been married for 52 years, spent the day cleaning their home and leaving a note for their solicitor. In the note, they apologized for not properly cleaning their rented apartment and expressed Susan’s desire to be with David.
Their friend, Kevin, shared that the couple had made a pact due to David’s declining health and his struggles with cancer. Despite the sadness surrounding their actions, Kevin found solace in the fact that David and Susan had made their own decision.
Described as a loving and devoted couple with a vibrant personality, David and Susan were known for enjoying live music at pubs in Whitby. However, in their final days, noticeable changes were observed in David’s demeanor as he battled the pain caused by his illness.
