A family who departed from the United Kingdom to relocate halfway across the globe have lauded their long-distance move as the “best choice they’ve ever made,” citing various compelling reasons. Kayleigh Hall, who chronicles her family’s escapades on Instagram, shared a video showcasing the dreary British weather they left behind at their former residence.
“Nine months ago, we purchased a one-way ticket out of the UK,” she stated in a caption. Kayleigh further detailed how their relocation was facilitated by “selling, donating, and relinquishing all our possessions,” and since then, they have never looked back at their ‘gloomy’ homeland.
In the video, Kayleigh candidly outlined the additional factors that led the Halls to embark on a new life. “Tired of the grey skies, despondency, an inadequate school system, struggling to make ends meet, diminishing quality of life, negativity, and a healthcare system in turmoil,” she criticized.
With their bags packed and unwanted items discarded, Kayleigh emphasized, “We’re not seeking perfection in any country.”
She elaborated, “Our quest is for a nation that is secure, welcoming, cost-effective, warm, with a slower pace of life, prioritizing experiences over possessions, a place where we are not excessively taxed, a country where we can raise our family peacefully.”
Now residing in Malaysia, Kayleigh stated that six months after settling in their new abode, her family is thoroughly convinced that the move was the right call, labeling the experience as “remarkable.”
“We are uncertain of our permanent settlement location and timeframe,” she admitted. “However, it certainly won’t be in the UK. We are relishing our adventures thus far and eagerly anticipate more.”
Kayleigh, who currently has her family based in Malaysia, concluded, “Having the opportunity to spend entire days together as a family is a gift. Our children are blossoming, thriving, and happier than ever before. I am immensely grateful for the abundant time I get to share with them and my spouse.”
Despite the Halls’ decision garnering a mixed response, with some Instagram users cautioning that the “grass isn’t always greener,” others were more supportive, commending the family for their bold move and predicting amazing memories ahead.
