An Israeli government official has disclosed that Tommy Robinson, known for his far-right activism, has been invited to visit Israel, being hailed as a valuable ally. Amichai Chikli, Israel’s Minister of Diaspora and Combating Antisemitism, announced plans to host the British figure on behalf of the state later this month. This announcement comes shortly after a terror incident took place outside a synagogue in Manchester.
Chikli emphasized Israel’s solidarity with the UK and the Jewish community following the recent attack near the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall. He praised Robinson for his outspoken stance against radical Islam and his support for Israel and the Jewish people. Chikli highlighted the importance of strengthening relationships with allies like Robinson in the face of rising antisemitism in Europe.
The tragic incident outside the synagogue, which occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, involved a suspect named Jihad Al-Shamie who was shot dead by police at the scene. Investigations suggest that the attacker may have been influenced by extreme Islamist ideology, as stated by Laurence Taylor, head of Counter Terrorism Policing. Six individuals are currently in custody in connection with terrorism-related activities linked to the attack.
Regrettably, two individuals lost their lives in the attack, identified as worshipper Adrian Daulby and security guard Melvin Cravitz. They have been remembered fondly by their local communities. Unfortunately, Mr. Daulby and another bystander were accidentally shot by armed police while trying to prevent the attacker from entering the synagogue.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic events.
