Bruno and his team unraveled a disturbing series of crimes and apprehended a notorious serial killer, Andres Filomeno Mendoza, who had gone unnoticed within the community.
The serial killer would target victims at nightclubs, lure them back to his residence, and then commit gruesome murders, dismembering and consuming their remains. Despite being a respected figure in the area and even holding a political position, Mendoza had been on a relentless killing and cannibalistic spree for two decades.
Reyna’s disappearance led Bruno to Mendoza’s house, where he discovered his wife’s dismembered body. Mendoza, a former butcher, confessed to the crime but attempted to flee before being stopped by the authorities. Further investigation revealed multiple victim remains and connections to cold cases of missing women.
Dubbed the “Cannibal of Atizapan,” Mendoza’s neighbors described him as “friendly,” unaware of his gruesome activities. The authorities found a notebook listing 30 women’s names, along with hundreds of bones and fragments scattered around his property.
