Club Security Arrested for Assault on Winnipeg Sea Bears Player

Must Read

Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing assault charges following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month, according to police reports. Teddy Allen was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, as confirmed by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were apprehended on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm. Authorities disclosed that the nightclub in question is located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.

In a statement released by the team, Allen revealed that he has undergone medical evaluations, received a diagnosis, and is currently recuperating at home. Expressing his dismay over the incident, Allen emphasized that such an assault should never have occurred and should not happen to anyone under any circumstances. He asserted his resilience, stating that despite being knocked down, he always gets back up, a sentiment he intends to embody in this situation.

Individuals with any information regarding the assault, including potential dashcam footage, security recordings, or cellphone videos from the relevant timeframe, are urged to contact the Winnipeg police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or online. CBC News has reached out to the Sea Bears for their response to the incident.
