“Blue Jays’ Guerrero Jr. Placed on Injured List with Concussion”

Must Read

The Toronto Blue Jays placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr., a six-time All-Star, on the seven-day injured list on Saturday due to concussion symptoms. In his absence, outfielder Daz Cameron was called up from Triple-A Buffalo. To accommodate this roster move, right-hander Lazaro Estrada was designated for assignment.

Additionally, left-hander Ricky Tiedemann was recalled from Buffalo, while right-hander Chase Lee was sent down to Triple-A. Guerrero exited Friday’s game against the Yankees after colliding with New York rookie shortstop George Lombard Jr. at third base during the sixth inning. Lombard attempted to jump over Guerrero but ended up striking him on the head with his knee and thigh, dislodging Guerrero’s helmet.

Despite the collision, Guerrero managed to score the tying run before being replaced by Charles McAdoo at first base in the seventh inning. Guerrero exhibited concussion symptoms post-game, with manager John Schneider confirming he still had a headache the following day. Guerrero’s current season stats stand at a .263 batting average with seven home runs and 46 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Tiedemann, who has pitched in seven games across various minor league levels this season, holds a record of 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA.
