“Man Posed as Teen, Assaulted 39 Girls on Snapchat”

Must Read

A 22-year-old man, Stuart Latham, who pretended to be a 14-year-old boy, targeted and deceived numerous young girls on Snapchat, engaging in predatory behavior. Latham, who was unemployed, sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl and manipulated hundreds of others by creating a fake online identity as “Josh.”

He exploited teenage girls, enticing them with monetary offers for explicit images or coercing them into sending indecent content, later threatening to expose them online if they refused to comply, as revealed during the trial at Preston Crown Court. Latham has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for committing child sexual offenses against 39 girls.

The court disclosed that the offender physically abused two victims and carried out numerous online offenses against 37 other girls, all aged between 12 and 15, residing across the UK. Latham, who remained impassive during sentencing, possessed approximately 4,000 indecent images, many obtained through blackmail.

Having admitted to charges including rape, blackmail, sexual communication, engaging in sexual activities with minors, producing and sharing indecent photos, and possessing extreme pornography, Latham was found guilty of offenses spanning from 2023 to 2024.

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Philip Parry labeled Latham a highly dangerous predator lacking empathy or remorse, causing emotional devastation to multiple young victims. The initial arrest occurred in December 2023 after the first victim reported a sexual relationship with Latham, whom she believed to be 15, followed by abuse of her friend.

Following Latham’s removal from the courtroom, Judge Parry praised the courage of the two tearful victims and their families, affirming that no blame should be assigned to them and commending their resilience in overcoming the situation. Detectives revealed that Latham dedicated significant time to his illicit activities, treating them as a full-time occupation from his residence in Wigan.

Detective Sergeant Simon France from Greater Manchester Police’s online child abuse investigation team described Latham as one of the most dangerous child predators he had encountered, noting the defendant’s persistent targeting of children online as if it were a job, emphasizing the seriousness and intensity of his criminal activities.
