Multiple pedestrians sustained injuries after a vehicle reportedly collided with a group in Cardiff. South Wales Police responded to the incident on Heol Trelai in Caerau around 12:30 am. It is believed that three individuals were hit by the car, with one person facing serious injuries.
Authorities have established a cordon in the area, leading to the closure of the road in both directions between Caerau Lane and Church Road. The incident has drawn parallels to a tragic event that occurred on the same street in May 2023.
Christopher West, aged 42, struck Keely Morgan with his vehicle on Heol Trelai, resulting in the death of the 15-year-old girl. West, driving above the speed limit, failed to notice the teenager, despite her being illuminated by an iPad at a pedestrian crossing. The court described West as an “irresponsible show off” during his sentencing.
Witnesses reported seeing a large crowd at the scene, with one local resident mentioning hearing shouts and observing people gathered near a club. A photo taken after the collision shows a cordon in place, with workers marking the area.
According to a resident, the incident occurred on the grass verge in front of Homeguard, amidst a confrontation among individuals. South Wales Police confirmed receiving reports of a car hitting multiple pedestrians, with one person sustaining severe, potentially life-altering injuries. Authorities have cordoned off the area for investigation purposes and closed the road to traffic in both directions.
The police have asked for the public’s cooperation as they gather more details and conduct their inquiries.
