Sarah Ferguson Faces Backlash for Email to Epstein

Must Read

Sarah Ferguson faces backlash from various charities following the surfacing of an email she sent to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former spouse of Prince Andrew had previously defended the disgraced Duke in connection to the scandal, but her ties to Epstein have now come into question.

Despite publicly distancing herself from Epstein in 2011, Ferguson later sent him an email expressing regret for her previous statements and referring to him as a “great friend.” A representative for Ferguson explained that she felt compelled to reach out to Epstein due to threats she had received from him following her public remarks.

Amidst the unfolding scandal, palace officials reportedly harbored concerns that Ferguson could jeopardize the reputation of the Royal Family, with one aide labeling her as the “greatest threat.” This sentiment arose when Ferguson withdrew from a promotional tour for her children’s book “Budgie, the Little Helicopter” in 1989, claiming that the palace had obstructed her participation.

In his memoir, John Sargent, a former head of a publishing company, recounted a conversation with a royal aide who described Ferguson as a significant risk to the monarchy due to her perceived lack of decorum and popularity. The revelation about Ferguson’s standing within royal circles surprised Sargent.

Following the tumultuous breakdown of her marriage to Prince Andrew, Ferguson spent years trying to mend relations with her former royal relatives.
