In the UK, around 170,000 individuals go missing annually, highlighting the importance of not forgetting those who have disappeared. To address this issue, the Mirror has launched “Missed” in collaboration with Missing People, aiming to raise awareness about missing persons through an interactive map. Users can zoom in to view details such as photos, names, ages, and duration of disappearance, and report sightings confidentially or share on social media.
Many missing persons face challenges upon their return, necessitating a comprehensive government strategy involving various departments to combat this crisis effectively. The initiative calls for public support through signatures on a petition to prompt government action and parliamentary debate.
For assistance and information regarding missing persons, individuals can contact Missing People’s Helpline on 116 000 or visit their website.
