Formula 1 veteran Andrea de Adamich passed away at the age of 84. The Italian driver, who competed for McLaren and Ferrari, participated in 34 World Championship Grand Prix races during his career.

De Adamich’s F1 journey came to an end after a severe 10-car pile-up during the 1973 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, resulting in a broken ankle and leg injuries. Following his retirement from racing, he transitioned into a successful broadcasting career, serving as a commentator and TV expert, known for his insightful analysis and willingness to engage in on-air debates.

The iconic figure hosted the TV show Grand Prix on Italia 1 from 1978 to 2012 and was honored as a Commendatore of the Order of Merit in 2022. Born in Trieste, De Adamich began his racing success by winning the Italian Formula 3 title in 1965 and later achieved victories in the European Touring Car Championship and endurance races.

Throughout his career, De Adamich competed with various teams like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, March, Surtees, and Brabham, earning accolades such as winning races like the 200 Miles of Buenos Aires and the 1000 KM of Brands Hatch. He also had notable achievements in endurance racing, including finishing fourth in the Le Mans competition.

Tributes poured in following his passing, with fans expressing gratitude for his contributions to the sport and his professionalism as a broadcaster. Sky recently announced an enhancement to its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, now offering additional streaming services and comprehensive coverage of Formula 1, Premier League, EFL, darts, and golf.
