A committed couple, inseparable after 75 years of marriage, peacefully passed away at a Swiss assisted dying clinic. Michael Posner, 97, and Ruth Posner, 96, made a joint decision to end their lives together despite not having a terminal illness. They sent heartfelt emails to their loved ones to inform them of their choice.
Hailing from Belsize Park in north London, the couple shared a message with their family and friends, expressing their mutual agreement on the decision. They emphasized their long and fulfilling life together and the challenges they faced with failing health. The email conveyed their love and appreciation for each other, signed off by Ruth & Mike.
Ruth, a Holocaust survivor, received a touching tribute from the Campaign Against Antisemitism, recognizing her resilience and advocacy work. The organization praised her as an inspiring figure using her voice for good in the world. Ruth’s legacy as an educator and survivor was acknowledged with heartfelt sentiments.

Arriving in the UK as a teenager fleeing from the Warsaw ghetto, Ruth overcame immense challenges, including posing as a Catholic school student to evade persecution. Despite the language barrier, she pursued a successful career in dance and later ventured into acting, earning recognition for her roles in various productions.
In 1950, Ruth married Michael, a chemist, and they embarked on a life filled with travel and adventure. Together, they navigated through different stages of life, cherishing their bond and shared experiences. Ruth’s legacy as a survivor, artist, and advocate for Holocaust education will forever be remembered with admiration and respect.
