“Act Fast: £100 Supermarket Voucher Deadline Approaching”

Must Read

Thousands of households have a limited time to claim £100 in supermarket vouchers before the deadline. Nottingham City Council is administering these vouchers through the Household Support Fund, and applications must be submitted by midnight. Although specific eligibility criteria have not been disclosed, it is anticipated that individuals with low income or receiving benefits will qualify. Interested parties can apply via the Nottingham City Council website.

The council aims to notify applicants via email by December 12, with vouchers expected to be received by February 28, 2026. Out of the 10,000 vouchers available, they will be distributed randomly to successful households, regardless of previous receipt of council vouchers since April 2025.

Councillor Cheryl Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People, and Education at the Council, expressed gratitude for the additional £1 million allocated to support Nottingham’s most vulnerable residents during the winter months. The funding aims to alleviate financial strains caused by rising living costs in recent years. The council’s website offers additional guidance and support avenues for struggling households through various schemes and organizations.

The Household Support Fund, part of a larger funding pool of £742 million for English local councils, assists vulnerable households with essential living expenses such as energy bills and groceries. Residents facing financial challenges are encouraged to inquire about available support from their local council, like Wakefield Council providing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance.

Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support were granted a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers planned for other eligible households. Families receiving Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting December 15, while other eligible households will be issued a £70 voucher between December 3 and 12.

Blackpool Council is offering £200 in energy aid to qualified households of one or two individuals, including children, and £300 to qualifying households of three or more members. To access this support, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulty in paying bills, submitting recent bank statements for all household members as evidence.
