British Cyclist Found Dead in Spanish Vacation Town

Must Read

A British man was discovered deceased while cycling in a popular vacation spot, leading to an ongoing investigation by authorities. The individual, whose identity remains undisclosed, was riding a road bike in the residential vicinity of Gran Alacant, located just south of the city of Alicante. The incident occurred yesterday morning on Mediterranean Avenue, a bustling road near the sea that runs adjacent to the well-liked Carabassi Beach.

Upon receiving the report, local police, Civil Guard officers, and emergency medical teams swiftly responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the location. Witnesses informed investigators that the man had not been struck by a vehicle but had fallen off his bike while ascending a hill.

Reports from a local publication in Santa Pola, the area where the incident transpired, indicate that authorities are exploring the possibility of a sudden medical episode as the cause. Images show Civil Guard officers retrieving the Cannondale racing bike from a grassy embankment beside the road.

Details regarding whether the cyclist was a local resident or a visitor are still unclear. Notably, in a separate incident in April, a British cyclist named Phillip Williams, aged 39, tragically passed away following a fall during a renowned amateur race in Majorca. Similarly, in May, a 54-year-old British woman sustained serious injuries in a bicycle accident on the same island near the village of Fornalutx in Majorca’s northwest region.
