A close friend of Meghan Markle’s former spouse shared his immediate reaction upon learning about her relationship with Prince Harry. Meghan was previously married to film producer Trevor Engelson for nearly three years until their divorce in 2014, two years before she met Harry in 2016 through mutual acquaintances.
Bethenny Frankel, an original cast member of Real Housewives of New York and a self-proclaimed friend of Trevor, disclosed that he was certain Meghan and Harry would wed as soon as he discovered their romance. Indeed, after dating for less than two years, Harry and Meghan had a fairytale wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, attended by the entire Royal Family and celebrity guests.
During an interview on The Toast podcast, Bethenny mentioned her past interactions with Trevor, where he hinted at Meghan’s future with Harry. Following their split, Trevor married Tracy Kurland, a nutritionist and heiress, and they welcomed their children Ford Grace Engelson in August 2020, Sienna Lee Engelson in November 2021, and Logan Stanford Engelson earlier this year.
According to Andrew Morton’s book “Meghan, A Hollywood Princess,” Meghan and Trevor met at a dive bar while she pursued acting, but cracks in their marriage soon appeared, leading to an unexpected separation. Despite once cherishing Meghan, Trevor reportedly felt undervalued in the relationship, especially as they struggled with a long-distance dynamic—Meghan in Toronto for filming “Suits” and Trevor in LA.
