“Millions of Gmail Users Warned: Disable AI Scanning Now!”

Must Read

Millions of Gmail users have received an alert regarding Google’s new AI features that can scan emails for smart searches, contextual replies, and email summaries. The warning, shared by TV personality Lori Greiner on Instagram, emphasizes the importance of understanding and controlling this setting.

Google insists that the AI does not read emails for personal use, but Greiner expresses concern over the scanning of sensitive information like financial documents and personal conversations. To address this, users can easily disable the AI feature in Gmail within 30 seconds by following simple steps.

To opt out of AI scanning, users can navigate to Settings, select “see all settings,” locate “Smart features,” and disable them for Gmail, Chat, and Meet. Additionally, users can manage Workspace Smart Features to further restrict data usage for AI by unchecking relevant boxes.

Google assures users that personal data remains private and secure, emphasizing that the AI models are not trained on personal emails. The tech giant clarifies that Gemini in Gmail functions securely within the inbox, processing information only for specific tasks and not retaining any data.

While Google maintains the confidentiality of user data, those uncomfortable with AI scanning can choose to disable smart features in Gmail. It is recommended to stay informed and take necessary actions to protect privacy online.
