“Maltesers Reveal Correct Way to Enjoy Chocolate Treats”

Must Read

Maltesers have resolved the ongoing debate on the proper way to enjoy the popular chocolate treat. A recent survey found that more than half of Maltesers fans prefer to suck on the treat without chewing, while a quarter choose to nibble off the chocolate coating before eating the center, and another quarter opt to bite the sweet in half and consume each part separately.

However, the brand’s scientists have debunked these methods, explaining that the chocolate is designed to be eaten in a specific way to enhance its flavor and provide a complete multi-sensory experience. According to Megan Rushman, the brand’s associate product development scientist, the malted interior serves a dual purpose. It not only contributes to the satisfying crunch but also aids in breaking down the chocolate, preventing the sticky feeling often experienced when consuming solid chocolate.

To fully savor the flavor, Megan recommends placing the entire Malteser in your mouth before biting down. This approach ensures that the chocolate covers a larger surface area of your palate, offering a multi-sensory experience by stimulating both taste receptors and hearing with the characteristic crunch.

This revelation coincides with the launch of Maltesers’ new white chocolate version. Megan added that the unique texture and harmony between the chocolate and malt center make the treat iconic and beloved by many.

A survey of 2,000 Maltesers enthusiasts revealed that those who prefer sucking on the ball do so because they enjoy how the malt dissolves in their mouth. Another 23% savor this method to prolong the experience.

Individuals who opt to nibble mentioned that they enjoy the dual bursts of flavor, while 24% prefer to take their time with the treat. On average, respondents believe that 22 seconds is the ideal time to relish the taste.

While 53% claim that room temperature is optimal, 31% prefer chilled Maltesers straight from the fridge.

Fans also indicated that the best time to indulge in Maltesers is between 7 pm and 9 pm, ideally while watching TV (57%) or as a post-dinner treat (20%).

Kate Lawler and Boj joined the discussion on the ideal way to enjoy Maltesers through playful debate content. Kate mentioned, “As a nation, we love a food debate, and it’s no different in my house. Boj insists on nibbling the outside, while I prefer to pop one in and give it a crunch. Science may support my approach, but whether you nibble, melt, or crunch them in one go, figuring it out is all part of the enjoyment.”
