“Windows 11 Update Causes C Drive Access Block on Samsung Galaxy Books”

Must Read

A recent Windows 11 update has caused significant issues for owners of Samsung Galaxy Books, leading to blocked access to the C drive. Users have reported encountering an error message stating “C: is not accessible – Access denied,” preventing them from opening files and using certain applications like Microsoft Outlook and Office apps.

Affected model numbers include NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem, indicating that Samsung devices are losing access to the C drive after installing the February 2026 security update and subsequent updates.

The issue seems to be linked to Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which facilitates functions like screen mirroring and file sharing between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been temporarily removed from the Microsoft Store while a solution is being worked on.

Samsung has republished a stable previous version of the application to prevent further installations and is collaborating with Microsoft to address the impact on already affected devices. While the timeline for a fix remains uncertain, Samsung PC owners are advised to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2. Users on these versions are encouraged to refrain from making any changes until the issue is resolved.
