Drivers on a major motorway experienced significant delays due to a crash that led to the closure of multiple lanes on the M6. However, the lanes have since been reopened, alleviating some of the traffic congestion. Despite the improvement, motorists are still facing delays resulting from the earlier traffic backlog.
Lancashire Road Police are present at the scene to manage the aftermath of the incident. Although all lanes are now accessible, delays of up to an hour persist along the route. National Highways shared an update stating that the recovery process is complete, and traffic flow has resumed on the southbound lanes between junctions 31A and 31 near Preston.
Traffic cameras have captured the lingering congestion on the M6, which has been steadily building up following the collision. A map highlights the areas to avoid amid the travel disruptions, showing traffic buildup on the eastbound carriageway of the M55 leading to the M6 southbound route.
Motorists have been advised to anticipate at least a 45-minute delay due to the crash impact. Three lanes were temporarily closed in response to the incident, according to National Highways, with the affected section identified between junctions 31A and 31.
